Introduction
We released Smart Hide Launcher versions 1.7–1.7.2. This update focuses on stabilizing the app and improving appearance and usability. Specifically, it includes enhancements such as improved readability, a group-editing feature, and the ability to persist display settings—changes that make daily use more convenient.
Feature Overview
The main changes are as follows.
・Internal structure cleanup: reorganized the app's internal structure to improve stability and maintainability. Although this is not a user-facing change, it helps future improvements and bug fixes.
・Home screen UI improvements: standardized item text color to white and added an editable text field for group titles. Also added a closing animation to the popup for expanded app groups to enhance the user experience.
・App list enhancements: introduced category management and a display mode toggle. The display mode is persisted to DataStore, so the last selected mode is retained after app restart.
・Usability improvements: fixed LongPressDragRecognizer and adopted a dynamic drag threshold based on screen density. This provides a more natural dragging feel across devices.
・Build and stability fixes: fixed crashes caused by proguard settings and made changes such as adding the Google Services plugin and Firebase dependencies. The version was updated stepwise from 1.7 → 1.7.1 → 1.7.2.
Design Highlights
These internal improvements make future feature additions and bug fixes faster and more reliable. For users, this means improved app stability and more dependable updates. Also, because display settings are saved to DataStore on the device, they persist after reboot.
Development Notes and Tweaks
Code review and testing allowed us to fix the causes of crashes. For the UI, we adjusted subtle animations and state retention to improve the overall experience.
